Job Role: Head ofLegal

Location:  London

Hours: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday 

Emeria UK operates in the residential real estate sector through its operating brands of Campions, FirstPort, Innovus and Knight Square. Emeria UK has a vision to be the leader of residential real estate services in the UK & Ireland.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Head of Legal will be responsible for managing day-to-day legal matters across the UK businesses. They will identify the most productive and cost-effective course of action alongside deploying appropriate resources. They will work directly and collaboratively with the General Counsel, senior management and representatives of each operating brand.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of legal professionals, including qualified lawyers and paralegals handling various legal functions, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Manage and oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial contracts to ensure advantageous commercial outcomes and appropriate mitigation of risk.
  • Lead and manage the legal aspects of our Mergers & Acquisitions activities, including negotiations in conjunction with outside counsel, reviewing due diligence outputs, commercial agreements, and counselling business leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards.
  • Provide support and counsel on legal queries, including contractual interpretation, reviewing restrictive covenants and risk management.
  • Oversee the team handling and resolving legal disputes, including litigation and mediation.
  • Manage renewal of the corporate insurance program and oversee the claims administration function relating to all policies including Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, and Employers Liability.

About You

This senior role requires a seasoned legal professional with 10+ years of PQE, specializing in commercial contracts, team management, and strategic legal oversight. Experience in residential real estate or construction is a plus, along with knowledge of UK legislative developments. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills, a business-oriented mindset, and the ability to build trusted relationships. They must be organised, results-driven, and capable of simplifying complex issues while working independently with minimal supervision.
