  • Job Role: Data Governance and Engagement Lead

    Location: London 

    Hours: 35 hours per week- Monday to Friday 

    Emeria UK operates in the residential real estate sector through its operating brands of FirstPort, Innovus, Knight Square and Campions. As the Payroll Administrator you will be contributing to Emeria’s vision to be the leader of residential real estate services in the UK & Ireland

    We are seeking an experienced Data Governance and Engagement Lead to define and embed the UK data governance framework and build strong, sustainable engagement with data across the organisation.

    Reporting to the Head of Data & Analytics, this is an experienced individual-contributor role with broad organisational influence. The role will adapt and extend the existing Group governance framework for the UK organisation, working with Group colleagues to maintain alignment while ensuring that local requirements, risks and priorities are addressed.

    The successful candidate will establish effective data ownership and stewardship, lead governance forums, improve data literacy, and drive adoption of data products. They will own business adoption of data catalogue and governance capabilities. The role will contribute to information architecture, master data processes and related enterprise-wide initiatives in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture.

    Key Accountabilities

    Governance Framework and Operating Model

    • Embed the UK data governance framework, drawing on the existing Group framework, standards and guidance.
    • Establish governance policies, processes, roles, decision rights and controls aligned with business priorities and regulatory obligations.
    • Develop, maintain and monitor a clear operating model for data ownership, stewardship, governance forums, escalation and issue resolution.
    • Define, implement and manage the UK data quality framework, including principles, measures, thresholds, issue management and reporting expectations.
    • Engage with Data Protection, Information Security, Legal and Risk colleagues as appropriate, recognising that specialist privacy and compliance accountability sits within separate roles
     Engagement, Literacy and Adoption
    • Establish and facilitate governance councils, working groups and communities, ensuring clear decisions, actions and escalation routes.
    • Develop and deliver a data engagement and literacy programme tailored to different roles and levels of data maturity, driving adoption and effective use of enterprise data solutions
    • Create accessible governance communications, learning materials and practical resources that make responsibilities easy to understand and apply.
     Governance Solutions and Metadata
    • Coordinate the creation of business ontology by capturing and maintaining business definitions, ownership, stewardship, classifications, critical data elements and other governance metadata.
    • Partner with the Data Platform team, which owns technical integration between the platform and key governance systems.
    • Contribute to information architecture, business glossaries, data domains and ownership models in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture owners.
     Person Specification

    Experience

    • Established experience in data governance, data quality, data management or a closely related discipline within a complex organisation.
    • Experience defining and embedding a data governance framework, operating model or equivalent organisation-wide approach, establishing and supporting networks of Data Owners and Data Stewards.
    • Experience developing and delivering data literacy, training, communications or adoption programmes.
    • Experience driving adoption and optimised use of Power BI or comparable enterprise reporting solutions.
    • Experience supporting business adoption of data catalogues, metadata, or governance platforms.

     Qualifications and Desirable Experience
    • Relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience in data, information management, technology, governance or a related discipline. Recognised data management or governance certification is desirable.
    • Experience with enterprise data catalogue, governance, metadata or data quality tooling is required.
    • Experience developing communities of practice or organisation-wide capability programmes is desirable.
    • Experience in complex, multi-brand, multi-system or acquisitive organisations is desirable.
     Measures of Success
    • Establish and embed a clear, proportionate UK data governance framework aligned with Group direction.
    • Create an active and effective network of accountable Data Owners and Data Stewards.
    • Improve the definition, measurement, visibility and coordinated remediation of data quality issues.
    • Increase data literacy and adoption of enterprise data solutions, including effective and responsible use of Power BI.
    • Increase completeness and active use of business metadata, ownership, definitions and lineage within governance solutions.
    • Run effective governance forums with clear decisions, actions and escalation.
    • Build productive partnerships across the business, Group, Enterprise Architecture, technology and specialist control functions.
    • Demonstrate measurable improvement in governance maturity, engagement and trust in data.
