Job Role: Network Engineer 

Location:  London

Hours: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday 

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with over 5 years of expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network environments. Beyond your technical skills, you are a collaborative professional who thrives on enhancing systems and providing expert advice on both on-premises and cloud-based networking solutions. You are passionate about exploring new technologies, staying ahead of industry trends, and advising on best practices.

You have hands-on experience with SD-WAN and cloud networking, ideally within Azure, and are skilled in managing vendor-supported solutions. You excel in diagnosing and resolving issues independently and are committed to maintaining high standards in communication, documentation, and change management processes. With a proactive mindset, you are ready to embrace a fast-paced, dynamic role where your expertise will make a real impact.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and maintain the organisation’s LAN, WAN, and firewall services, ensuring availability, security, and performance.
  • Set up and maintain VLANs, switches, and related network infrastructure, including proactive monitoring and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the IT Security Manager to ensure consistent network and firewall security.
  • Monitor network performance, identify trends, and provide capacity planning and resource management insights.
  • Research and recommend network and security improvements aligned with the latest trends and best practices.
  • Support change management processes by presenting changes and offering technical guidance to the Change Advisory Board.
  • Provide network expertise to internal projects, engaging with IT and business stakeholders as required.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving network issues, implementing preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Regular travel to support on-site network needs or engage with external suppliers.

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience working with highly available networks and multiple site connectivity.
  • Familiarity with managing Azure networking solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and prioritise tasks during complex projects, such as M&A transitions.
  • Excellent documentation, communication and coordination skills, with the ability to liaise effectively between technical teams.
