Job Role: IT Field Engineer
Location: London- Traveling across different sites
Hours: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday
Salary: £28k- £34k plus benefits
The Role
The Field Engineer plays a crucial role in providing technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of desktop systems and applications within an organisation. This position is responsible for resolving escalated desktop-related issues, managing, and maintaining desktop infrastructure, and delivering high-quality support services to end-users. You will be based in our London office providing onsite support and travelling from our London office to support our different offices and sites.
What You'll Do:
Your role will involve diagnosing and resolving 1st and 2nd line technical issues such as desktop-related issues, deploying hardware, troubleshooting networks and ensuring seamless onsite coverage across the different locations.
- Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support remotely (travelling to our different offices/sites) and onsite.
- Collaborate with the wider IT team to resolve cross-functional technical issues and participate in improvement projects.
- Create and update technical documentation, including knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures and user guides for knowledge sharing across the teams.
- Asset management including building, configuring, managing and maintaining laptops, mobiles and other IT hardware through Microsoft Intune and other applications.
- Work in line with business processes and workflows such as incident, service request, problem and change management.
- Manage user accounts in standard applications such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure and bespoke business applications.
- Complete training and contribute to continuous improvement efforts, both personal and professional.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong communication and customer service skills, capable of engaging with individuals at all levels to ensure customer satisfaction is consistently achieved and maintained.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise tasks independently.
- An analytical thinker who troubleshoots and solves technical issues efficiently and effectively.
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in an IT Support role.
- Good understanding of networking concepts, protocols and troubleshooting techniques.
- A team player, someone who can actively participate and contribute across multiple IT teams.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant qualification to the role, such as an Apprenticeship or a bachelor’s degree in computing.
- ITIL v4 Foundation Certificate
- Networking certifications such as CompTIA N+, CCENT, and CCNA are beneficial, or there is a willingness to obtain these qualifications.
- Familiarity with scripting languages, such as PowerShell, to automate desktop management tasks is advantageous.
- Someone located a short distance from our offices and branches in central London.
